Bid Day - The last day of recruitment when new members receive bids, or offers, to join sorority chapters.

College Panhellenic Council - The council for all chapters of the National Panhellenic Conference on a college campus. This council organizes the recruitment process.

Legacy - a daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, or step-relation of a sorority member. Legacies are given special consideration but legacy status is not a guarantee of membership. Each sorority has its own legacy policy.

NPC - National Panhellenic Conference, a group that encompasses 26 women's member organizations and works to advance the sorority experience.

PNM - Potential New Member, a woman (like you) who is participating in recruitment

Quota - The number of bids a sorority can give out to potential new members, determined by a formula that considers the number of chapters and number of women participating in new member recruitment.
